Can you share a bit about your background and what brought you to Aquiva Labs?
Before joining Aquiva, I felt stuck working on a significant project for three years as a technical leader. I wanted to explore different opportunities that aligned better with my interests. Knowing that Aquiva Labs focuses on PDO projects and serves numerous customers, I saw an opportunity to engage in diverse projects and applied.
And I wasn’t wrong in my assumptions. Aquiva has various projects and is also innovative, especially in adopting new technologies. Aquiva was among the pioneers in applying AI advancements not only to our daily work but also across our operations.
What has been one of your most memorable experiences or achievements in Aquiva?
I enjoy working on our latest project. I don’t always feel like we’re making a monumental social impact, but with my past project at the health industry, which involved developing questionnaires to diagnose ADHD and autism, I truly feel a part of something significant.
This month, we're highlighting the core value of "Responsible and Honest ." How do you personally connect with this value, and can you provide an example of how you embody it in your work?
I believe that honesty is fundamental for building a strong society. It fosters transparency and trust among people.
Transparency is crucial as it sets realistic expectations for both parties involved. When we practice transparency internally, it naturally extends to how we interact with external customers. It prevents false expectations and avoids situations where the truth eventually emerges, causing discomfort later on. It’s always better to be upfront from the beginning rather than dealing with the consequences of misinformation down the line.
What advice would you give to others about incorporating a "Responsible and Honest" approach into their daily work?
So, if you need help, don’t hesitate to ask for it—there’s no need to conceal what you can or cannot do. Secondly, if you have constructive feedback on how someone is doing something, share it honestly in reviews or retrospectives. Thirdly, if something isn’t working well for the team, speak up and suggest changes. That’s why we have rituals like retrospectives—to openly discuss what’s working and what we can improve.
What are some of the hobbies or interests you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with friends and my husband, and we’ve been exploring activities that we both like and can do together. While I typically practice yoga alone, we’ve also started running together. It’s become a shared activity that not only improves our fitness but also helps us better understand our bodies’ capabilities. It’s really interesting how your body adapts to exercise, and when you start seeing results, it motivates you to set new challenges for yourself!
Do you have a book, movie, or podcast that inspires you or that you would recommend to others?
My friends and I started a two-person book club. We set expectations for when we want to finish reading each book and then discuss it. One of the recent books that inspired me was “Hard to Be a God” by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. It’s about a scientist from the distant future who finds himself on another planet in a medieval-like society. Initially an observer, he eventually begins to influence events and feels integrated into their society. It shows how societies shape individuals just as individuals shape societies, revealing the nature of our development.
What is one thing you’ve learned at Aquiva Labs that you think everyone should know?
Creating excellent projects for our customers and contributing to initiatives outside of Aquiva adds significant value to our work at the company. Aquiva’s participation in the charity hackathon in Wrocław for the past two years has been truly inspiring, and we even secured 2 first places last year! I am excited to join the hackathon again this year!
